Eco-Solvent Printing

There's a never-ending range of choices when you're looking to print and create high-quality pictures. What printer to use, what printing material to print on? If you want your printing to be eco-solvent is another choice you'll need to remember.

The advantages of printing with eco-solvents

The shades of eco-solvent inks are suspended in a mild biodegradable solvent, which ensures that there is practically no odor in the ink because they do not contain as many organic volatile compounds. Since the early 2000s, they've been around and were initially planned for general signage work.

A true plus point for eco-solvent inks is the absence of smell. Not only can you get a strong odor in certain solvent inks during the printing process, which means you need to consider your printer placement, but they can also leave an odor on the printed material itself. This can exclude printing on content that is displayed or used indoors.

Getting fewer volatile organic compounds also ensures that your printer components are not so damaging or degrading to the eco-solvent printing cartridges, and as such you will not have to clean the complete device quite as much, although you will need to do daily cleaning and maintenance of your printer from time to time as with any form of printing.

To dry, eco-solvent printing requires more heat and this can impact the type of paper you can print on. The ink is not as robust as solvent inks, however. While it is sufficient for outdoor printing work, it is safer to use it only for applications that need to last a year or two.
